Close the Window

It always amazes me when God gives me revelation through what seems to be the most random and mundane things. Or at least what I consider to be random and mundane because let’s be honest; if God can speak through a donkey he can speak through a window.

This morning (and by this morning I mean five minutes before typing this thought out) I was doing my devotional/Bible Study for the first time in about two weeks (but that’s another conversation for another time); and in the middle of answering the Day 4 question in the “100 Days Of Believing Bigger”, I heard the noisiest, most annoying JET taking off.

Sidebar: If you didn’t know I live on an Air Force Base, so I hear jets coming and going more often than not, but this one was different.

THIS ONE WAS LOUD.

Almost as if it was taking off in the middle of my living room.

So, I’m mid-sentence, and BOOM, I hear the sound of the jet bellowing and rumbling all around me, and instantly I feel the slightest tinge of annoyance. Then I start to think, why can I hear that jet so clearly?

The only time I really hear and feel the jets on base this closely is when we have a window open.

So, I look up from my devotional journal, and clear across the living room, I see the curtain swaying ever so slightly, because of the morning breeze; and I remember that two days ago I slid that window open to air the house out while we were grilling.

That window has been open for two days, without me remembering or realizing it.

Y’all the window was open for two days, letting all my good air out and maybe letting little microscopic bugs and particles in, without my knowledge!

After a momentary reflection on that open window, I began to think about the spiritual windows and doors that we leave open without knowing.

I wrote this quick thought to remind you to close the window.

See you in the next thought.
