5 Toddler and Parent Approved Shows to Stream

I love children’s show’s. They are entertaining to watch and can be an amazing way for children to learn about the world around them.

But, they can sometimes be irritating as well.

As someone who grew up on good children’s programming (cue Franklin, Little Bear, Gullah Gullah Island, & Blues Clues), I can tell you that the one thing that matters more than your child liking what they are watching is you liking what they are watching, especially when they are intent on watching the same thing over and over. So, I’ve composed a quick list of Toddler Show’s that the entire family will approve of.

Blippi

This isn’t a real list if Blippi is not on it. Blippi originally started as a YouTube series, but the show can now be found on Hulu, Amazon Prime, you can buy compilation episodes via the Blippi site, and you can still watch it on YouTube. We love Blippi, because he teaches kids about the world around them through exploration. Blippi visits fire stations, aquariums, bakeries, and a plethora of other places; and while doing so he finds interesting ways to teach kids about shapes, letters, colors, vehicle parts (Josiah can tell you every part that composes a helicopter-he’s 3). Blippi also has song and dance breaks that I find myself dancing and singing to as well.

We’ve seen pretty much every Blippi episode and I don’t dislike him yet.

Word Party

”Word Party, the party’s just begun. There’s a word for what we’re gonna have and that word is fun!”

Word Party can be found on Netflix, and it features five of the cutest CGI characters in diapers as they learn new words. The characters explore what it means to be kind, share, and take responsibility. We love the Word Party theme song as well as the other song and dance breaks featured in the show.

Sesame Street

This one is an oldie but goodie that I’d honestly forgotten about until my mom mentioned it recently. Sesame Street has been around for quite some time, but over the last few weeks I’ve taken it upon myself to introduce Elmo and the gang to Josiah and he loves it! I sat down on the couch with him a few days ago to watch a few episodes and realized that in one episode Sesame Street had taught the kids about space, alphabets, numbers, manners, and imagination. All the information in the show flowed seamlessly and was extremely entertaining. Sesame Street can be found on HBO Max.

Octonauts

”Creature report, Creature report”

If your child is interested in sea life, Octonauts is the show for them. Unlike most of the shows on this list, Octonauts doesn’t have song and dance breaks, they do however have a song at the end of the episodes once the mission is completed. This show is jam packed with sea exploration and as of this week, it’s Josiah’s top pick. We love this show because it introduces children to new vocabulary about sea life. Octonauts can be found on Netflix!

Pocoyo

I’m pretty sure Josiah watches an episode of Pocoyo almost daily. If you didn’t know, Pocoyo is a Netflix kids CGI comedy show with a main character named “Pocoyo” who loves to play and explore. Pocoyo helps kids learn numbers, objects around the house, and directions like up/down and over/under. We love Pocoyo because the show presents information to children in a way that’s fun and entertaining.

When you spend as much time with your child as I do, it helps to have shows that you can watch together that are entertaining for the both of you. I love the shows listed above just as much as Josiah does.

I hope this list was helpful!
